They are little wooden blocks with text on them. They're easy to assemble because it's just a matter of stacking the little books and tying the included yarn to them. They do look OK, but their size takes away a little of their impact because they're so small they're hard to read!

Its clamps on either end, which need brass nails, which are not provided, is another disappointing feature. The nails with the clips on each end are also visible. A picture hanger-style attachment that is hidden on the rear is something I would have preferred. You get those clips, even if the image on does not display them at all.

    I can fix the problem since the studs fell off two of my photos and I was unable to hang them, but it's annoying that this was a "used" item with just inadequate packing visible. It would have been ideal if it had been mentioned upon return that the bottom was connected incorrectly, preventing it from being available for purchase by another person!

If the wood had a good grade and resembled a genuine tree limb in terms of texture and cracks around the edges. It has a good rating from me. I'm keeping it since it works rather well in my bathroom, but if you're wanting for something of superior quality, don't get this.
